The UK 10-year Gilt is the most closely followed bond of the British government, dominated in Pounds (GBP). They are issued by the UK Debt Management Office (DMO) on behalf of HM Treasury. There are two types of gilt, Conventional gilts and Index-linked gilts. According to DMO, they are called gilts since the UK government always achieves to pay interest or principal payments on gilts when they have been delayed.
